“Working for solutions to problems of the farm, the farm home and rural community using united, organized action to represent, protect and advance the social, economic and educational interests of wheat farmers of Washington State.”

That mission has guided the Washington Association of Wheat Growers since its inception in 1954 — and it still drives everything we do for the wheat industry today.

What We Do How WAWG Supports Wheat Farmers

WAWG monitors state transportation, research, and natural resources policy — and partners with the National Association of Wheat Growers to track federal farm policy. When burdensome regulatory issues, mandatory buffers, ag overtime, pesticide regulations, or trade policy threatens Washington wheat farmers, WAWG is in the room representing your interests.

Education & Programs

WAWG depends on volunteers for both activities and funding, with all programs guided by members through grassroots committees. From AMMO farm management workshops to the Wheat Ambassador Program and Wheat College, member dues make it possible for volunteers to represent Washington wheat at the state and national level.

WAWG is a volunteer-driven nonprofit association. Membership dues and donations fund every activity — from tracking legislation in Olympia and D.C. to providing educational opportunities that help Washington wheat families stay profitable. Direct producer support is what makes it all possible.

Our History Over 7 Decades of Washington Wheat

WAWG was founded in 1954 by Washington wheat producers who understood that individual farmers couldn't fight policy battles alone. The association's first major effort was forming the Washington Wheat Commission — which later became the Washington Grain Commission when it merged with the Washington Barley Commission.
